What kind of MOMENT do you need today?
Whether you're waiting, listening, starting again, praying, or simply needing a place to pause, find a Reflection that meets you in this season.
🌸 Let Her Teach You Something
We spend so much of motherhood teaching—but our children have something to offer us, too. A little humor and a willingness to learn can open the door to a different kind of connection.
Scripture: “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.” — Proverbs 1:5, KJV
A MOMENT to be the one who doesn’t know.
There is a particular look a child gives you when you ask for help with your phone.
A little disbelief. A little concern. Perhaps a quiet question about how you’ve managed to survive this long.
Then come the instructions.
“Mom. Right there.”
Apparently, “right there” is a technical term I should understand.
We spend so much of motherhood teaching. How to say thank you. How to handle disappointment. How to clean a bathroom in a way that involves more than making it smell like something happened.
We explain, demonstrate, remind, and occasionally repeat ourselves from another room.
But our children are learning things we don’t know. They have interests we haven’t explored, skills we haven’t developed, and ideas we might miss if we’re always the ones doing the explaining.
What happens when we let them be the teacher?
Maybe your child knows how to draw something you can barely turn into a stick figure. Maybe she can explain a game, introduce you to an author, or show you why a particular song means so much to her.
We don’t have to become experts in everything they enjoy. We can be curious enough to ask.
“Can you show me how you did that?”
“What do you like about it?”
“Wait, explain that part again. I want to understand.”
And then comes the harder part: letting them answer without taking over.
Without turning their interest into a lesson about careers. Without offering a better method halfway through. Without deciding that because it’s unfamiliar to us, it must not be important.
Sometimes an interest can simply be something we enjoy discovering together.
There is something tender about being invited into a child’s world. Especially as they get older and we realize how much of that world exists beyond our view.
An invitation may arrive disguised as a long explanation, a video, a strange fact, or a request to watch them do something “one more time.”
We won’t catch every invitation. Some days we’re tired. Some explanations really do require more concentration than we have left.
But we can return.
“You were telling me about something earlier. Show me now.”
I believe God can grow our humility in these ordinary exchanges. We can be responsible adults who still have something to learn. We can guide our children and also delight in what they bring to the relationship.
Today, let your child know something you don’t.
Ask for the demonstration. Listen to the explanation. Be willing to need a second try.
And if she sighs while helping you find the button on your phone, you can gently remind her that you once taught her how to use a spoon.
With love, of course.
Pause & Reflect
What does my child enjoy or do well that I could ask them to teach me?
A Small Practice
Set aside ten minutes this week and say, “You choose. Show me something you enjoy.” Let your child lead, and give them your attention.
A Simple Prayer
Lord, keep me curious about the person my child is becoming. Help me make room for their ideas, appreciate their abilities, and receive what they have to teach me. Amen.
There is still so much to discover about the people we love.

🌸 What Do You Need to Come Back To?
Sometimes moving forward begins by coming back—to God, to His Word, to the people we love, and to the things that truly matter. This MOMENT Reflection is a gentle reminder that we do not always need something new. Sometimes we simply need to return.
Scripture
“Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty.
— Malachi 3:7
THE MOMENT
Driving home from a short vacation, somewhere between “I could use another few days” and “I cannot wait to sleep in my own bed,” 😂 I started thinking about how good it feels to get away.
But I also thought about how good it can feel to come back.
There is something about returning home.
Your own bed.
Your own kitchen.
Your familiar routines.
Even unpacking the suitcase does not seem quite as bad when you are finally home. Well...maybe. 😂
But somewhere on that drive, I realized that coming back is not only something we do after vacation.
Sometimes we need to come back in life, too.
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Life has a way of pulling us forward.
The next appointment.
The next responsibility.
The next thing our children need.
The next work or ministry assignment.
The next family situation.
The next problem to solve.
We keep moving because that is what women so often do.
But sometimes, while taking care of everything and everyone, we can drift away from things we never intended to leave behind.
Our quiet time with God.
A friendship we meant to nurture.
Family dinners.
Taking care of ourselves.
A dream we put on the shelf.
The habit of actually sitting still long enough to hear ourselves think.
Maybe even the version of ourselves that laughed more, rested without guilt, called friends just because, and did not feel as though every minute had to be productive.
And sometimes we drift from God.
Not because we stopped loving Him.
Life simply got loud.
SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO COME BACK
The beautiful thing about God is that He allows us to return.
We do not have to wait until everything is fixed.
We do not have to explain where we have been.
We do not have to pretend we never wandered.
We can simply come back.
Back to prayer.
Back to His Word.
Back to trusting Him.
Back to the people who matter.
Back to something we know God placed in our hearts.
Back to taking care of the woman in the mirror.
And coming back does not necessarily mean returning to exactly where we left off.
Sometimes we come back rested.
Sometimes wiser.
Sometimes a little bruised.
Sometimes more grateful.
Sometimes with clearer eyes about what deserves our attention—and what no longer does.
A MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT
Maybe today is not about adding something else to your life.
Maybe it is about asking:
What do I need to come back to?
Is it God?
Prayer?
Your family?
A friendship?
Your health?
Rest?
Joy?
Something you once loved doing?
Or perhaps you need to come back to yourself—the woman God created before life became so busy that everybody else's needs started speaking louder than your own.
There is value in moving forward.
But there is also wisdom in knowing when to pause, turn around, and return to what matters.
And here's what I love:
God is not standing at the door asking why it took you so long.
He is simply glad you came back.
MOMENT PRAYER
Lord,
Thank You for being a God who welcomes us back.
When life becomes busy and I lose sight of what matters most, help me recognize it.
Bring me back to You.
Bring me back to prayer.
Bring me back to the people and things You have entrusted to me.
Help me release what no longer deserves so much of my energy and return my attention to what does.
And when I need rest, remind me that pausing is not quitting.
Sometimes stepping away gives me the clarity I need to come back differently.
Amen.
YOUR MOMENT
What is one thing you need to come back to?
Don't make a ten-item list.
Just name one.
And this week, take one small step toward it.
Maybe open your Bible again.
Call the friend.
Have dinner at the table.
Take the walk.
Pick up the project.
Sit quietly with God.
Or simply give yourself permission to rest.
You don't always have to start something new.
Sometimes you just need to come back. ❤️
Pause. Pray. Return.
❤️ Every MOMENT Matters.
